Tiger's Path is the current iteration of my 30+ years of study and training of the body, mind and spirit. It is the collection of things that I have found that work for me to improve myself and my life. I am here to share what I have learned, and continue to learn. Each person I meet and work alongside teaches me something and helps to be a mirror into myself. I sincerely hope that I can be that for you as well. Bring what you have, but be humble. Acknowledge that none of us have all of the answers, and that no one answer is the best one for us all. Whether it is through acupuncture, martial arts practice, breathing, stretching, or lively conversation, I open my doors to you to come and grow.
From taking an 8 week Shotokan course at my elementary school, watching Sho Kosugi, Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris, Van Damme and Arnold, to sparring with friends of many styles, I began my journey into studying the body at an early age.
At 12, my career path was apparently to "teach people how to exercise, eat well and be healthy". I read every body building and sports nutrition book and magazine I could get my hands on. I trained with sand filled barbells in my basement. At age 16, I began my formal martial arts training at Ki. C. Yoon Martial Arts, which would further shape my desire to learn and train. At 17 I got my first real gym membership, at the illustrious Gold's gym. Being exposed to the hard and soft aspects of the human body, I saw the potential for making the body strong, flexible and vibrant.
Smelling burning "moxa" from the small office in the studio, and being invited in to see what was going on, I first experienced acupuncture and the marvel of Oriental medicine. Almost a decade of training and security work later, I decided to pursue the healing aspects in depth. Training at ACATCM in Calgary. After further study and clinical work in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China, I returned to Calgary and became a licensed acupuncturist.
Now, after 12 years of working in a clinical environment, cross training martial arts and fitness with many other talented people, I am finally fulfilling a dream of bringing it all together in my own studio. I believe that there is no one answer for all. We all need to find what works best for each of us. I follow my own path, and invite you to take from it what you will, and add it to yours.
